Canadian Centre for Advanced Supply Chain Management and Logistics

Calgary is home to a broad cluster of companies engaged in supply chain management and logistics services.  The Calgary business community would greatly benefit from access to world-class, applied business research on supply chain management and logistics techniques.

To address this need, the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary and the Van Horne Institute have developed a joint proposal for a Calgary-based Canadian Centre for Advanced Supply Chain Management and Logistics (C-ASL).  The purpose of the C-ASL is to deliver a stable supply of high-quality graduates who are:

  1. Prepared for deployment in businesses specializing in supply chain management and logistics and with substantial potential for strategic management and leadership positions in the future
  2. Equipped with substantial mode specific knowledge (air transport and airport management, railway transportation, road haulage, maritime transportation and seaport management, pipelines, intermodal transport), gained as a result of ‘solving’ multiple case studies related to each mode, with a special (though not exclusive) focus on energy and the natural resources industries.
